Derek Patterson

Derek Patterson was born in Dublin Ireland where he later began his accountancy studies in Plunkett College, Whitehall. In 1988 Derek joined the team at Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants where he worked for 9 years carrying out duties in both the Audit and Bookkeeping departments.

In 1997 Derek became Financial Controller of Cellular Services. At this time, Cellular Services were one of the larger mobile phone providers with exclusive contracts for Ready-to-go phones for Eircell (who later were taken over by Vodafone). In 2000, Derek and Austin Hannon then began their own bookkeeping service, Pathan Limited, which had a range of large and small clients from varied sectors and industries.

In 2004, Derek went on to found Barnhill Bookkeeping Ltd, offering outsource and onsite bookkeeping services to a varied client base, including Hardware Shops, Pubs, Funeral Directors, sole traders, self-employed, TV Production Companies, Magazine Publishers and International Civil Engineering Companies. Derek is also credited as Production Accountant on a number of Mint Productions such as “Who do you think you are”, “Haughey” and “Bertie”, which were shown on RTE Television and later released on DVD.
